There’s a moment that happens again and again when I travel. A new landscape opens up in front of me. The light shifts, the wind carries a different scent, and I’m reminded why I keep going back out into the world with a camera in my hands. This blog is a place for that.
A space where I can bring you along not only for the photographs but for the full experience behind them. Because the truth is, photography isn’t only about what you see. It’s about what you feel standing there in the wild.
Why I’m Starting This Blog
For years, people have asked me the same questions: Where are you? What’s it really like out there? What should I pack? What lens did you use? How do you handle the cold, the heat, the wind, the dust, the unpredictable moments? How do you find wildlife… and how do you photograph it in a way that tells a story? So this blog is my answer.
Not a technical manual, not a sales pitch, not a polished brochure. More like field notes from a life built on the road, in boats, in the snow, in remote places, and in breathtaking light.
What You Can Expect Here
I’ll be sharing:
Stories from the field (the real ones: the quiet moments, the wild surprises, the wins and the misses)
Travel guides + destination notes (what it feels like, what to expect, and how to make the most of it)
Photography tips and tricks that actually matter in real-world conditions
What I bring with me and how I choose gear depending on the trip
How I think while shooting (composition, storytelling, emotion, and the “why” behind an image)
This will be about wildlife, landscapes, and the remarkable places that still feel untouched. It will also be about staying curious and learning every time I lift the camera. Because after 40+ years of doing this professionally, I can tell you something with full honesty: You never stop learning. And that’s the beauty of it.
Embracing the Unpredictable
I’m not here to pretend every shoot is perfect. Nature doesn’t cooperate. Weather changes in seconds. Wildlife doesn’t follow a script. And that’s exactly why it’s worth photographing. This blog will be a blend of practical and personal: what works, what doesn’t, what I wish I knew sooner, and what still takes my breath away.
Let’s Go!
If you love wild places… If you’re drawn to adventure… If you want to learn how to photograph the world with more intention and impact… You’re in the right place. Thanks for being here. I’m looking forward to sharing more of the journey with you.

The Importance of Conservation
As we delve into the wild, let’s also remember our responsibility. Conservation is crucial. The landscapes we adore and the wildlife we cherish need our protection. Through our photography, we can advocate for these precious environments. Let’s inspire others to appreciate and preserve the beauty around us.
Learning Through Experience
Every trip teaches me something new. Whether it’s a new technique or a lesson in patience, I embrace these experiences. I encourage you to do the same. Take risks, make mistakes, and learn from them. That’s how we grow as photographers and as individuals.
Capturing Emotion in Nature
When photographing wildlife, capturing emotion is key. It’s not just about the animal; it’s about the connection. I strive to convey the spirit of the moment. I hope to inspire you to do the same. Let your photographs tell a story that resonates with others.
The Journey Ahead
I’m excited about the journey we’re embarking on together. There’s so much to explore, learn, and share. Let’s dive into the world of wildlife photography, uncovering its wonders and challenges. Together, we can create a community that celebrates the beauty of nature.
See you in the field.
Michelle
