About Michelle

Michelle Valberg is a globally recognized and celebrated photographer whose artistic lens on nature and people captures the beautiful and unique on camera, and has taken her to all corners of the world. Valberg’s stunning and at times haunting photographs are highly sought after by art collectors and have been showcased in various exhibits across North America, including New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. Over time, Valberg has chronicled significant moments that convey national and international impact – HIV/AIDS, Canada’s polar bears and arctic wildlife, women standard bearers whose compassion and performance inspire all, and the raw and moving portraits of our pandemic heroes. In 2011, Valberg’s work was the subject of a critically acclaimed three-month solo exhibition at the esteemed Canadian Museum of Nature.  Her work is displayed in Canadian embassies and consulates across the globe.

Michelle Valberg continues to be at the forefront of her craft – drawing on innovative digital technologies and selected as a keynote presenter in the most significant international launch in Nikon’s history. Valberg holds the distinguished positions of Nikon Ambassador Canada, and Canadian Geographic Photographer-in-Residence – her images have appeared in National Geographic, The London Tribune, More Magazine, Reader’s Digest, Canadian Geographic and In Style.  Her work is also featured on Canada Post Stamps, on a Royal Canadian Mint Coin, numerous magazine covers and airplane tails.

Her travels have taken her to all seven continents – creating powerful images that trigger emotions and capture imagination. Valberg has explored her passion for Canada’s Arctic, voyaging to Canada’s north on more than 60 occasions. She has become the ‘go-to’ Arctic photographer for various travel exhibitions and private clients wishing to capture their once-in-a-lifetime adventure in photographs.  Committed to nature literacy, and to capturing and preserving moments for future generations, she works as a resource photographer for Adventure Canada, Abercrombie & Kent and Frontiers North Adventures.

“I seek artistic expression in all of nature’s most intimate and awe-inspiring moments. I believe that the world around us mirrors what we see in ourselves…beauty, simplicity, complexity, and responsibility. Nature is a part of us and reflects who we are. As a visual storyteller, it is my mission to educate, inspire, and immerse my viewers in the beauty and wonder of our planet.”  Michelle Valberg
