Michelle is a sought after speaker, celebrated author, community leader and an advocate for animals, the environment and conservation.

Known for her unique ability to create relatable images of incredible landscapes as well as people and other animals, Michelle seeks artistic expression in all of nature’s most intimate moments. She believes that the world around us mirrors what we see in ourselves… the beauty, simplicity, complications and responsibilities. Michelle believes that nature is a part of who we are and we are part of nature, which is why it’s so important for us to nurture and protect the environment and those living in it.

In 2011, Michelle’s photographs were the focus of a critically acclaimed, three-month solo exhibition at the Canadian Museum of Nature. Her images appear on magazine covers, in numerous exhibitions and embassies around the world. Her iconic image of a Nunavut drum dancer is featured on a coin from the Royal Canadian Mint and her bear images are on four Canada Post stamps. .

Michele is a rare combination of dazzling talent and dedicated service. In 2009, she founded Project North, a not-for-profit organization committed to delivering education and sport-based opportunities to youth in Canada’s Arctic. Since its inception, $1,000,000 in new sports equipment has been delivered to more than 30 Inuit communities.

She has self-published four books: Look Beyond…The Faces & Stories of People Living with HIV/AIDS, Dare to Dream… A Celebration of Canadian Women, Arctic Kaleidoscope…The People, Wildlife and Ever-Changing Landscape and her children’s book, Ben & Nuki Discover Polar Bears.

“The natural world mirrors what we see in ourselves… our beauty, our simplicity, our complications, and our responsibilities. Nature is a part of us and reflects who we are. As a visual storyteller, it is my mission to educate, inspire, and immerse my viewers in the beauty and wonder of planet earth.” Michelle Valberg
